Book Awards
The Caldecott Medal is awarded annually for the most outstanding picture book for children in America. The award is given to the illustrator in honor of the nineteenth-century English illustrator Randolph Caldecott. Books in our library are labeled with a red ribbon award on the spine representing the Caldecott Award. They will be mainly located in the E (Everybody/Easy) section. The Newbery Medal was named for eighteenth-century British bookseller John Newbery. It is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.
